The Children's Department has 7 computers for children through sixth grade. Each time a child wants to use a computer, the child must bring his or her own card. Two of these computers have games installed. Five of these computers offer filtered access to the Internet. The Internet is a global electronic information network that provides dynamic resources and facilitates communication for its users. The Library does not monitor, censor or control information accessed through the Internet and cannot be held responsible for its content. The Internet may contain material of a controversial or mature nature. Parents and guardians of minor children, not the Library staff, are responsible for their children's use of the Internet in the Library. Parents wishing to control the materials to which their children are exposed are expected to provide sufficient supervision of their children to accomplish this. Parents are also encouraged to discuss the issues of netiquette and online safety with their children.
Parental Consent
All children who wish to use the Internet must have a signed Parental Consent Form for Internet Use on file at the Library. This form can be picked up at the library or downloaded here. (The slip must be notarized if not signed at the library). Bring the completed form and child's library card to a children's librarian to receive an Internet sticker. Children must have their own card with them each time they want to go online at the Library. |
